Method
- Put the orange chocolate, unsalted butter and golden syrup into a small saucepan. Put the white chocolate, unsalted butter and syrup into a separate saucepan. Cook over a low heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally until melted. Alternatively these could be melted in a microwave.
- Measure the oats, Rice Krispies and cocoa powder into a mixing bowl. Pour over the melted chocolate orange mixture and mix until all of the oats and Rice Krispies are coated. Repeat with the melted white chocolate mixture and remaining oats, Rice Krispies and icing sugar.
- Wet the inside of two 18 x 28cm (7” x 11”) tins with cold water and line both tins with clingfilm (the water helps the clingfilm stay in place) and leave some extra to overhang the tin (this will make it easier to remove the mixture once it is set). Press the Rice Krispie mixture into the tins and press down using a potato masher to level the surfaces. Place in the fridge for about 1 hour to firm up. Tip the tins upside down onto the boards and peel the clingfilm away. Cut out 5 dark chocolate men and 5 white chocolate men using a gingerbread man cutter (3” cutter). You can press the excess mixture back into the tin to set again so that you can make a whole team.
- Take a small amount of the left over white chocolate Rice Krispie mixture and form it into a football. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave for about a minute and using a small paint brush, paint the black markings onto the football.
- Whilst the Rice Krispie mixture is setting in the fridge, you can make the football pitch. Mix the coconut and the green food colouring together in a large freezer bag to make the grass. Using a pastry brush, spread apricot jam over the cake board and sprinkle over the green coconut and press down until the board is covered.
- Arrange the white chocolate fingers to make the lines and centre circle on the pitch (you will need to cut some of the fingers into shorter lengths to make the circle). Join the white chocolate biscuits together using melted chocolate for the goal posts. You will need to cut the ends off two of the fingers diagonally and use these to prop up the goal posts.
- Roll out the red and yellow icing (or colour of your choice) and using the same gingerbread man cutter, make football shirts for each member of the team (Simply cut off the heads and cut to the waist to make the shirts). Stick the shirts onto the players and give them each a number using the Writing Icing tubes. Also give them eyes and a mouth using the Writing tubes. Arrange the players on the pitch, position the ball and blow the whistle.
