Plaice, Leek & Sweet Potato

Plaice, Leek & Sweet Potato puree is a great second stage weaning food as the flesh is soft and subtle in flavour which makes it ideal for babies.

A knob of unsalted butter
1 leek, finely diced
150g sweet potato, diced into 1cm cubes
100ml full fat milk
1 tomato, skinned and roughly chopped
100g plaice fillets, cut into chunks
50g Cheddar cheese, grated
  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the leek and soften for 5 to 8 minutes.
  2. Cook the sweet potato in boiling water for 10 minutes until soft and then drain.
  3. Add the tomato and milk to the leek and bring to the boil.
  4. Add the plaice and simmer for about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the cheese and sweet potato then blend until smooth or until you reach the desired consistency for your baby.
