Oven Baked Chicken Nuggets

See if little ones can guess the secret snap, crackle and pop ingredient in my healthy take on chicken nuggets. Instead of using batter to coat chicken strips, I like to use Rice Krispies for a light crispy and secret ‘krispie’ coating. These Oven Baked Chicken Nuggets are suitable for freezing when uncooked. To cook from frozen remove the nuggets from freezer as required and allow to defrost thoroughly before cooking. Cook in a medium to hot oven for 12 to 15 minutes, as per the cooking instructions.


2 large chicken breasts cut into cubes
1 egg, beaten
A little plain flour
40g Rice Krispies
40g Panko breadcrumbs
25g finely grated parmesan
½ tsp paprika
2 tbsp. sunflower oil
40g Panko breadcrumbs
40g Rice Krispies
25g finely grated parmesan
½ tsp paprika
2 tbsp. sunflower oil


  1. Preheat the oven to 200C Fan. Grease a baking sheet with oil.
  2. Measure the Rice Krispies and Panko breadcrumbs into a plastic bag. Bash with a rolling pin until finely crushed. Add the cheese, paprika and oil and shake well.
  3. Coat the chicken in flour, then dip into egg and then into the crumb mix.
  4. Arrange the chicken on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes until golden and cooked through.
