Meatless Sausage Rolls

These tried and tested Meatless Sausage Rolls are a simple pastry treat for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Easy to prep ahead and perfect party food.

They can be frozen before cooking and then glazed and cooked from frozen for about 30-35 minutes.

250g plant based mince eg: Meatless Farm or Vivera
1 small carrot, peeled and grated
½ onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
40g Cheddar or dairy free cheese, grated
¼ red pepper, finely diced
375g ready rolled puff pastry
1 egg, beaten
Sesame seeds


  1. Put the vegan mince, carrot, onion , thyme, cheese, red pepper into a mixing bowl and mix well.
  2. Unroll the pastry and brush with the beaten egg. Divide the pastry into three strips widthways.
  3. Make three sausage shapes out of the mixture and place on top of each strip or pastry Fold over and wrap around the filling. Seal the edges and press down with a fork.
  4. Slice each roll into 7 little sausage rolls. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200C fan.
  6. Put the sausage rolls onto a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden and crisp.
