Lentil Puree

Lentils are a good source of protein, iron & fibre. Babies need iron from 6 months, so be sure to add this puree to your stage two meal planner.


2 tsp olive oil
50 g red onion, diced
50 g red pepper, diced
50 g courgette, diced
50 g carrot, diced
1 clove garlic, crushed
3 tbsp red lentils
1/4 tsp ground coriander
200 g chopped tomatoes
200 ml unsalted chicken stock
1 tsp sundried tomato paste
2 tsp basil, chopped
15 g Parmesan, grated


  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the onion, pepper, courgette and carrots and fry for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add the lentils and coriander , then blend in the tomatoes, stock. tomato paste.
  5. Bring up to the boil, cover with a lid and simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Blend to your desired consistency.
  7. Add basil and parmesan.
