Hidden Vegetable Pizza

Pizza with seven hidden veggies – get a pizza that! If there’s one way to get your little one to eat (beyond) their 5-a-day, it’s pizza! And this hidden vegetable pizza is the way to do it. nutrient-dense and oh-so-tasty, this recipe ticks all the boxes.

2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 small carrot, grated
1/2 stick celery, finely chopped
1/2 small red pepper, finely chopped
3 white mushrooms, diced
1/2 small courgette, grated
2 cloves garlic, crushed
200g passata
2 tbsp tomato puree
2 tbsp basil, chopped
150g self-raising flour
125g natural yoghurt
1 large tomato, sliced
75g mozzarella, grated
50g Parmesan, grated (or vegetarian alternative)


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the onion, carrot, celery, red pepper, mushrooms and courgettes. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and fry for 10 seconds. Add the passata and puree and cook for 15 minutes until the sauce has reduced and is thick. Set aside to cool.
  4. Put the flour and yoghurt into a bowl. Mix until you have a soft dough. Gently knead and roll out to a 23cm circle and place on a baking sheet lined with non-stick baking paper. Spoon the tomato sauce on top and spread out to the edge. Top with the tomato and cheese.
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
