First Fruits

These fruity finger foods are packed with essential vitamins which are important for your baby’s growth and development.

Ingredients

Banana
Avocado
Mango
Papaya
Pear

Method

  1. Banana is the perfect convenience food on the go as it comes in its own easy to peel packaging. To prevent your baby from squishing the banana you can cut a small banana in half, then cut around the base of the banana leaving some of the skin on to create a banana lollipop.
  2. Avocado is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats which are important for your baby’s growth and development. It’s a perfect nutrient-dense first food rich in vitamins and minerals. Slices of avocado make good finger food – choose one that is ripe but not too mushy.
  3. Mango is rich in vitamins A, B & C. Wedges of mango make good finger foods. You can also try leaving some of the skin on so that it’s not too slippery for your baby to hold.
  4. Papaya is rich in vitamin C and fibre and it’s good for digestion. It can be quite slippery to hold so sometimes it can help to cut out small triangles so that your baby can get a better grip.
  5. Pear is rich in vitamin C and A wedges of peeled ripe pear make good finger food. Sometimes leaving a little of the skin on the base of the pear can make it easier for your baby to hold.
