Three or four feeds in the first few sleepy days gradually build up to six to eight after a week or so, as you both get the hang of things.

As baby’s stomach grows they will consume more milk at each feed and stay fuller for longer, this leads to a reduction in the number of night feeds and a few more blissful hours sleep for you!

From six months you can start your weaning adventure but milk feeds are still important. Your baby needs 500 – 600 ml (17 – 21 fl oz) of breast or formula milk a day, and up to four milk feeds a day to the age of eight months, to provide necessary nutrients.

After a year you can moo-ve on from formula milk to cows milk. Stick to full fat as your growing baby needs the calories.
