Vitamin D is brilliant for bone health; sunlight and oily fish are excellent sources but you might consider a pregnancy supplement as not many foods contain it. The recommended daily dose is 10mcg a day.

Folic acid is another important one that you might consider topping up (with a 400mcg supplement) particularly within the first 12 weeks. It can help prevent birth defects and although some breakfast cereals are fortified, it is perhaps worth the peace of mind of knowing that you are getting your daily dose at this crucial time.
