A slider is a bite-sized burger. The Americans originally came up with the term and no-one seems to be sure why, I can only assume it is because they slide down so easily when eaten! If you have older children, you could make these twice the size...
 

Turkey/Chicken Sliders

Ingredients

3 slices white bread, crusts removed
1/4 cup milk
1 red onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
9 ounces ground chicken or turkey
2 teaspoons soy sauce
3 tablesppoons ketcup or tomato relish
1 teaspoon tomato paste
salt and pepper, to season
2 tablespoons canola oil, for frying

 

Method:

Sauté the onion in the olive oil for 5 minutes, or until softened. Add the garlic and cook for a minute longer.

Transfer to the food processor and add the remaining ingredients (seasoning to taste with the salt and pepper) except the canola oil. Whiz for 1 minute to chop and combine.

Heat the canola oil in a large frying pan. Drop the mixture by tablespoonfuls into the pan. Press down slightly using a wet teaspoon. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until golden and cooked through.
