These 'lunch sticks' or salad and fruit kebabs are quick to put together and easy to pack in your kid's lunchbox. Here are some ideas, but feel free to make up your own combinations choosing healthy foods that your child enjoys.

Ingredients

Savoury Lunch Stick

  • Slices of ham or turkey rolled up
  • Cubes of cheese
  • Wedges of pineapple
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Mozzarella
  • Chicken Tikka
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot
  • Red pepper
  • Cubes of Gruyere or Emmenthal cheese
  • Squares of tortilla omelette
  • Salami

Fruit Lunch Stick

  • Chunks of pineapple
  • Dried apricots
  • Strawberries
  • Melon
  • Kiwi
  • Grapes
  • Cubes of mango

Conversion chart

Method

  1. Thread a selection of savoury items or fruits onto a thin straw. For older children you can use a skewer.
  2. Some of our favourite combinations are:
  • Slices of ham or turkey, cubes of cheese and wedges of pineapple
  • Cherry tomatoes and Mozzarella cheese
  • Chiken Tikka pieces with cucumber
  • Cucumber, carrot, red pepper and Emmental cheese cubes
