It is important to drink plenty of fluids when breastfeeding, but try to advoid sugar filled fizzy drinks and caffeine. Posh health spas serve infused waters, which are refreshing and a lot more interesting than plain water. Why not make your own and refrigerate until needed?

Lime, Cucumber and Mint

Ingredients

  • 1 lime, thinly sliced
  • 7.5cm (3in) piece cucumber, peeled, halved lengthways and finely sliced
  • 2 large sprigs of fresh mint
  • 1.5 litres (2 3/4 pints of water)

 

Method

Put the lime, cucumber, mint and water in a large jug (or divide between two smaller jugs).

Cover and chill overnight. Stir before serving.

 

Citrus Refresher

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1.5 litres water

 

Method

Put the sliced fruit and water in a large jug (or divide between two smaller jugs)

Cover and chill overnight. Stir before serving.

I was told by my midwife & Dr, that eating or drinking anything with mint, can & will dry up your milk supply. This is something that I thought all breastfeeding mums should be told when they have their precious little ones. :)
