Introduce your baby to chicken with this simple chicken recipe. The sweet potato and apple add sweetness and flavour to these simple chicken recipes that babies love and gives the puree a smoother texture. You could also make this simple chicken recipe using carrot instead of the sweet potato.

A lot of mums continue giving only fruit and vegetable purees to their babies when in fact they need fish, chicken and meat introduced into the diet soon after 6 months. This makes a very good first chicken puree. You could also make this using chicken thigh – the brown meat of chicken contains twice as much iron as the white. |
Ingredients½ tbsp olive oil
Method:Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion till softened. Add the chicken and sauté until it turns opaque. Add the sweet potato, apple and stock. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 15 minutes. Puree to the desired consistency.

My son is quite fussy and often turns his nose up at savoury dishes, preferring his puddings. However, he LOVES this one - and its such a relief for me knowing he's getting some protein from the chicken! Thanks - can't wait to try your other recipes

Delicious, I nearly ate it, I was very surprised the way it turned out. Doing the big tester with my baby tomorrow, hope he likes it as much as I did! Delicious for a soup tooo!

and to add onto this ... now my son has moved onto the next stage I've added some fresh rosemary (or thyme) to the ingredients and puree it to more of a chunky texture. It's still one of his favourites, and ours!

I changed the chicken to pork in order to get a greater variety of food for my son and he absolutely loves it. Mind you, so do I and so does his Dad! :-)
