Thanks immensely for the marvelous recipes! My baby Julia liked Chicken & Rice a lot, besides she is allergic to lots of products, but the meals you offer seem to be excellent for her diet. Best regards, Alicia

hi yvonne you dont have to wait until you baby is 6 month to wean especially if he is showing signs he is ready to eat - chewing fingers and toys, making chewing faces, watching you eat food, waking in the night again, refusing milk nikki

Hi I'm a first time mom and my son just turned 5 months. I can't wait to start the puree recipes as soon as he turns 6 months, but can anyone tell me how much I would need to feed him and how often each day and also, should I give him a different recipe with each feed or stick with one thing per day. Thanks for your help :)

Hi Yvonne I'm a first time Mum as well and recently started weaning my daughter. I initially found all the information regarding weaning a bit overwhelming and at at times conflicting. I did however read quite a bit and took advice from my Mum and other Mums and decided to compromise and start weaning at 5 months. I started by feeding my daughter a small amount of baby rice ( 1 teaspoon mixed with my breastmilk) between her milk feed first thing in the morning and stuck with this for a few weeks, this has gradually increased to a heaped tablespoon of baby rice. I then introduced a further small dinner of sweet potato/carrot puree and stuck with this for a week or so before introducing a fruit puree of banana/pear which she now enjoys at lunchtime. I personally found that sticking to the same food for a week or so allowed her to explore, get used to and enjoy the taste. In regards to how much to give your son, every baby differs but I would begin by making a few tablespoons of puree and you soon get an idea of what your baby will need. Its such a joy to watch my baby enjoying her food and Annabel Karmels literature has been a great help. Hope this helps!

My little boy is almost 9 months old now and he loves all the recipes i've made him. His favourite would have to be spaghetti bolognaise. The only thing i've found he doesn't like is banana's which is a real shame as they are very good for you. If anyone has any ideas or recipes that could help me get banana's into him i would live to hear them.

I have a 3 1/2 yr old who was raised on Annabel Karmel recipes. He eats anything now, eats fruit like it's sweets! I've just started weaning my second & very excited about trying him out on the purees. I cant believe anyone would pay 50p+ for a jar of baby food, when you can buy a butter nut squash (or pumpkin this time of year) for £1 & make a weeks supply of meals! In my opinion after breastfeeding, this is the most important thing you can do to give your chidlrens health the best start.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my 6 month old more interested in breakfast?? I started weaning at 5 months, she just doesn't seem that hungry in the morning which is weird as she sleeps from 7pm to 7am no problem she takes about 6oz of milk when she wakes up but not interested in any fruit, yog or cereal I would have thought she would be starving!!

Maybe sticking to something very similar to the taste of her milk? Maybe just a plain porridge to get her used to breakfast & then gradually change it. Mine loved Cow & Gate 'My first muesli', my eldest is 3 1/2yrs now & he still loves it. I think the main thing is though never to worry, they will eat what, when & how much they want. The more you force something on them the more they seem to refuse. Dont worry to much, good luck.

Hi all, I have just registered and am looking forward to giving my little baby Emilia foods other than usual pre-boxed and ready made foods I normally pick up in the supermarket, I can feel myself getting into a bit of a routine, a routine I am getting bored of, I want to make sure she is getting all the nutrients she needs, and I want to make her foods with my own hands. xxx

Ive just had my second baby, another boy. My first was raised on Annabel Karmel recipes. I was so proud of myself, I dont really think of myself as much of a cook but this really gave me confidence. My eldest will eat anything now, eats fruit like they are sweets! He might of been like that anyway, I guess I will never know, but I am just weaning my second & I am soooo looking forward to making all the meals again. Good luck, hope yours take to it as well as mine xx

We have used Annabels books (we have 3!!) since our 5 year old was on solids. We eat the meals as a family and have not found a single recipe that we dont like! Our 8 month old daughter is also now enjoying all of the recipes. The purees are so tasty that you dont mind trying them yourself!!

My baby loves sweet potato and butternut squash (they're both sweet and mild tasting, so I think that's why she likes them)

Hello I think you should purchase a weaning book, or use the recipes on this website. I like Annabel's top 100 baby purees. It's important your little one tries something new every day. My 6 month old loves sweet potato, carrot, butternut squash, pumpkin, apple and pear. In fact she pretty much loves everything! Although not a big fan of avocado so I mixed it with banana which she enjoyed. Good luck and have fun.

I used Annabel's recipes 10 years ago with my son and daughter and never made a bad meal. I think at that time I was the only one I knew making her own baby food. He is 11 now and she is 8 and they will try anything and they both love an aray of foods beyond what most kids their ages eat. I know its because I gave them so many options when they were small. I am so excited to bring out Annabel's cookbooks again and to try some new recipes with my new little girl.
