Is swaddling a good idea?

Jo Tantum says

It’s essential for at least the first four weeks. Babies are born with a startle reflex which is set off by loud noises. A swaddle helps stop this reaction and they will feel secure and safe wrapped in a swaddle. Make sure it’s made from thin material - not a blanket - to avoid over heating.

Swaddling will ensure that your baby will sleep longer and not be woken often by every sound. They grow out of this reflex around 8-10 weeks so if you want to, you can stop swaddling then.
