What is a dream feed?

Jo Tantum says

All babies are capable of one long sleep in a 24 hour period, and it makes sense that it’s when you have your long sleep (between 11pm and 7am). So before you go to bed at 11pm give your baby a ‘dream feed’ so-called because it’s when your baby is very sleepy and may not even open their eyes.

Change the nappy first to wake them from their deep sleep. This is a good time for Dads to do a feed, their special time with their baby. It also means that Mum can go to bed early and have a long sleep until the baby wakes up again in the early hours. Giving this feed by bottle  means it is quicker and the baby doesn’t fall back to sleep on the breast. Baby should settle very quickly back to sleep after this feed.
