Default Wedding favours

Just wanted to pick you brains if possible please!

So im getting married next year so im trying to get organised, but im undecided what to do about wedding favours. Mum thinks i shouldn't bother - its an expense we can get away with as no one bothers about them?! I planned to do them, but she got me thinking the few weddings i have been to, my favour got put in a drawer and then binned, but then they were almonds and i dont like them!

So if you go to a wedding would you expect a favour, and do you actually keep them as memory tokens? Also what was the nicest favour you received?

Thanks everyone xx

They are gifts usually left at the table for guests as a sort of thank you for attending, traditionally its 5 sugared almonds for Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility, but people often do different things now.

For our favours we did a lucky dip lottery ticket for the men and chocolate heart sweets for the ladies, weddings I've been too we have had a betting slip, personalised chocolates, personalised love heart sweets and a compact mirror x

I personally wouldn't bother if I were getting married now as its an expense you can do without. We had really beautiful favours made with little wooden welsh love spoons in each one which everyone raved over, but still chucked in a drawer somewhere so waste of money. Most weddings I've been to have just had chocolates in a box, or even ferrero rocher at each place setting! i love ferrero rocher!!

I didn't bother when I got married. Some people have had them at weddings I've been at but it's mostly sugared almonds and I've seen more left behind than taken home.

We had them at our wedding and we just done the traditional sugared almonds in a little box. To be honest they probably were a waste of money but they're not really that expensive and I wanted something for us to keep. We got married abroad so wanted a few traditional things from home. Even took our wedding cake out with us!

In all honesty though they are a waste of money, they either get stuck in a drawer or thrown away! x

We had them and I made them myself to keep the cost down. If I were getting married now, I probably wouldn't bother and might go for something that was more "in" at the moment iyswim? They are quite an old fashioned tradition, if you don't want to then don't worry about it xx
