I only saw a little of this but what I saw was interesting on many levels. They went through how many people in the NHS were involved from 1 person's 'journey' from having an accident to them being discharged and the cost.
I couldn't believe the friends of that seriously injured young man. Disgusting attitudes. |

I enjoyed the prog and thought it showed the way A&E is in the place I work: I have split duties between A&E and a medical assessment ward and thankfuly I only have day shifts but still get to see a lot of the people who have had to stay in overnight cos of "issues".
Glad the consultant had the "balls" to say what many in UK A&Es think: theres so many people coming in drunk and needing treated for alcohol detox or alcohol related injuries that those people who have genuine medical issues dont get the time and "level" of care that they need: they do still get good care but sometimes staff would love to help them more and talk through things but cant as they are so overstretched its unbelievable. Our A&E actually closed its doors for a few hours (to non-blue light ambulance cases who had to drive another 6 miles to another A&E) one night abt 2 months ago as it was so packed and the hospital wards were full so ther was nowhere to move the A&E pts would needed admitted to. I have really got my eyes opened since moving jobs to A&E (I was in an cancer unit before). Love to know what issues Susie's place of work has: if theres a lot of drugs and alcohol related attendances there. Last edited by hiann : 09-04-09 at 20:32. |

I watched the second one too with the teenage pregnant mothers and found them so frustrating especially the fat girl who smoked, they were still children themselves having children. I really felt for the consultant trying to talk her round into not being put to sleep to give birth, but glad the girl realised that she missed so much. I'll be watching again next week xxxx |
