Default Can't Eat;

Neither of my girls are able to keep down either Butternut squash or Sweet Potatoes. Does anyone know anything I could substitute for these in recipes that would still contain similar nutrients?
Cheers!

White potato/parsnip/swede would be what I'd use although the taste would be different and sweet potato is much better carb than white potato.

When you say they can't keep it down do you mean they vomit it back? How are you cooking it and what age are your kids?

Sweet potatoes and butternut squash are hypo-allergenic foods - they shouldn't be causing a vomiting reaction... Try some different recipes or just don't worry too much, there are plenty of other 'superfoods' out there (broccoli, carrots, blueberries, ground almonds etc etc) that can be introduced into their diet.
When I was a baby sweet potatoes and butternut squash would have been considered exotic, I'm sure I didn't eat either until my late teens - and I turned out ok!! x

My girls are one and two years old. I first tried my eldest on squash when she was a year old. I gave her a jar that included it in the recipe and she vomited it up within five minutes. I tried again when my younger reached six months and pureed both, mixing it with baby rice. Same reaction again with my older daughter and my younger threw up and later got diarrhoea. As regards cooking it, i was practically stewed by the time I was happy with the consistency...
I don't feel its a huge loss but as so many recipes these days now include the two veg I think it is wirth at least attempting same through a different route.

I'd use the veg isabellasmum suggested or maybe some carrots as they are nearly as sweet and the texture is similar when they are cooked down.
