Question Confused..... family recipe's?

Hello Everyone,

Im new to this site and wondered if you could help. I have loads of AK books but love how you can log on here and get some extra recipe's all her food is amazing. My little baba has just turned one and i wondered if the family recipe's that are on here are any use for him as im sick of cooking different meals all the time. I know people say just give him what you eat but we eat silly stuff like dolmio sauces, pasta bake, chicken and mealie things like that which I dont think are any use for him. I find adult recipes too complicated so im surprised i cook for him really hee hee.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as im getting stuck for ideas.

Thank you
Wendz x

hi and welcome. the family recipes are probably fine dependent on what they are sorry not trying to be unhelpful but if its for example spag bol make it per AK but for the whole family and leave out the salt and put very little in as your lo is one now. things like cottage pie, lasagne (SP?), beef stew, chicken casserole, jacket pots with fillings - this can all be enjoyed by the whole family - you just need to control the salt for lo and maybe mash some things down, chop up for lo.

if i do a roast dinner i will put some of the chicken, the veg and mash in a blender and pulse till more managable for my 1 yr old and he's been having that for the last 3 months and manages fine.

you could make your own tom sauce instead of using dolmio - cheaper and you can control the salt content i.e. none. hark at me - it wasn't long ago i was posting on here for help with making tom sauce and now i have a stock of plain tom sauce and tom sauce with hidden veg in the freezer.

just look at the texture of the meal and how you can blend/chop so it is manageable it can be made for little one.

hope that helps - not sure i have.

These are quite good uncomplicated cookbooks in my opinion:

How to Feed Your Whole Family a Healthy Balanced Diet, with Very Little Money and Hardly Any Time, Even If You Have a Tiny Kitchen, Only Three ... - Unless You Count the Garlic Crusher...: Amazon.co.uk: Gill Holcombe: Books

Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food

The Dinner Lady: Amazon.co.uk: Jeanette Orrey, Jamie Oliver: Books

I would tackle one recipe at a time, rather than get overfaced by thinking you have to do be able to do everything immediately.

Good luck!

I agree -Ministry of Food is a great book for family recipes although like others have said, leave out the salt and only add to yr prtions. You can enjoy yr regular meals like spag bol, pasta bake etc as long as you make yr own sauces. Lots of ways to make if u search this site. Make extra then freeze it.
