My one year-old has had them occasionally - she only ever manages to drink half at the most (they're pretty filling) but they're useful if we're out and there's nothing healthy to be had... Definitely beats a Fruit Shoot (shudder!!)
She absolutely loves them, though, and loves sucking them through the straw. Very cute to behold! They're handy too if she's feeling under the weather and off her food. Figure they're about the best thing a toddler with a cold could have - packed with vitamins, all natural and lots of energy. Work a treat on constipation, too ![]() Can't believe we stress out about giving our kids 100% fruit smoothies! Our mums would be shocked - it was Ribena and Custard Creams at 3 months in their day xxx |

well if it helps them poo i'm all for them. as someone said all in moderation so maybe we can have as a treat now and again. better than sweets and choc.
and i wouldn't of thought to give when they are ill - noted for next time. thanks |

i tend to make smoothies so don't often buy these but if we are out and about have no prob with izzy having one. abs hasn't tried one yet.
can someone tell me what is so bad about fruit shoots, have seen a few people saying how bad these are recently, i only ever let her have the low sugar ones which i assumed weren't too bad, she probably only has one a week tops if that?? Last edited by Anna07 : 13-05-10 at 14:50. |

Anna-I've copied and pasted this Although it contains no sugar, it contains the artificial sweeteners Aspartame and Acesulfame K, as well as other additives including acidity regulator Trisodium Citrate, Dimethyl Dicarbonate, plus colourings and Malic Acid.
We don't have anything with aspartame in it, I would much rather Ben had actual sugar, Bella's neurologist doesn't let his family drink anything with it in, some studies show it's negative effects on the brain. I believe aspartic acid is a neurotoxin. Some of it may be scaremongering but I'd rather not take the chance. |
