Default What cereals can my baby have now? 9 months old

Hi all

Hope you read this in good spirits!

Just wondering what cereals do you offer to your bubba, I tend to eat my cereal when LO has hers, and she has shown a keen interest in my rice krispies! I gave her little and she liked it but worried about salt content etc, how do I know what is to much? What figures should I look out for on a packet? Currently offer her the Heinz cereals which she does like but they are getting expensive! Have tried Ready Brek and Weetabix, well a few weeks ago and she did not take to them very well. lol. Will try again soon though.

Many thanks!

hi
i give mashed up banana with warm milk in the readybrek or weetabix, it sweetens it up. also cheerios, shreddies and mini weetabix as finger food for her to try. not sure about the salt/sugar content though! this is baby no. 4 so think i'm a little more relaxed with this one.

Thanks so much! I have tried banana before when she loved banana and it never worked 100% lol. She doesn't like banana now, I think perhaps she overdosed on it before. I think you are using all the good cereals - the ones that my LO doesn't seem to like! I will try weetabix as finger food I think...

Readybrek and weetabix are aboout the best of them. The rest are loaded with sugar and will have plenty of salt in them too and I would avoid them all for now.

Try mixing different fruit purees or mashed up fruit into the cereals.

You could also try porridge. Cook it plain, add fruit, or serve it cold: soak it overnight in apple juice then mix into yoghurt with some fruit.
