Default My 10 month old gags on anything but pureed food

My son is 10 months old and doesn't have any teeth yet. He gags on anything but pureed food, and the first taste of a lump sets him off vomitting. I have tried and tried to introduce just slightly lumpy foods from 7months which is usually stage 2 but nothing works. Even a banana has to be completely mushy. Most children start eating lumpier foods earlier even if they don't have any teeth, I am worried that he will be a fussy eater if he doesn't eat lumpy or finger foods soon. Does anyone else have or had the same problem.

Just give him finger foods, make sure he's sat upright and let her explore. Lumpy is harder than solid, let her bite/gum and chew things. Chill out a little.

Hi and welcome to the site!

I was very lucky with both of my girls and they have both been great eaters so I don't have first hand experience.

However, my great nephew is almost 1 and only just started eating lumpy food and finger foods. My niece has just gone back to work and he has been going to nursery 2 days a week. He has been getting on brilliantly eating breadsticks, raisins etc that my niece was too nervous to give him before because he used to gag.

Maybe try giving him some different finger food to try - bread fingers/toast, breadsticks, raisins, Cheerios, chopped cheese, chopped boiled eggs??

Keep persevering and try not to stress.

X
