My daughter is 8 months 3 weeks old. She doesn't have teeth either. I just try and cut up her food very small. I also make sure the food is fairly soft. She really enjoys finger food. Her favorite finger food is the puffs from Gerber. She can pick those up and pop them in her mouth and when she chews they dissolve. I would just keep food soft and small.

Your baby can now have chopped or half mashed form of food.
• Chopped cooked vegetables and fruits. • steamed florets of broccolli as finger food • Sliced soft fruit( bannana, kiwi or mango) • well cooked pasta with minced chicken and a tomato sauce • steamed chopped spinach and cootage cheese • a slice of fruit bread • sandwiches with mashed tuna • cooked rice with peas and carrot. • Thick lentil soup. |

My baby had no teeth up until she was 11 months, and I was worried at first about chewing/choking, but it is amazing what they can mash up with just their gums. I just made sure vegetables were cooked well, and then mashed coarsely. Fish was a great food for my baby to learn to chew, because it flakes apart naturally after it cooks. My babies favourite is small cubes of cheddar - they mush up easily with just their gums. Just make sure you are around when he/she is eating cheese because my baby loved to cram 5 or 6 pieces in at a time! I think the most important thing is that you are present and paying attention when they are eating bigger chunks of food for the first time because babies are going to gag and choke on food as they learn to eat new textures - many of my girlfriends have said the same. Good luck!
