I think (now sorry if I'm going outside the box here ) you should bin the feckin crisps and get a grip!!! Crisps??!!!!!!???? He's ONE!

He will not starve himself. He will eat eventually. When he's hungry, you will be there with the wee cheese sandwich at the ready. Now come on woman - give yourself a mummy-like shake and let this little person know who's boss!

The only food my daughter would remotely try until she was 1 is organix crisps, I went with them as they felt healthier

i offered meals 3x a day but she existed on breast milk and a few organix crisps until she decided to eat at 1 years old, she eats everything now.

I would keep trying, and try not to get frustrated, maybe substitute wotsits for bread sticks? or something with less crap in.

You mention that he did like his food but goes off it every now and again. I assume he therefore used to eat more. I think at that age anything can put them off their food temporarily - teething, illness, or just having days when they don't want food (or at least what you give them).

The best you can probably do is to keep offering lots of different things and make sure that if nothing else he gets his milk. If he is only eating crisps then try and stick to the organix ones or the rice cakes, other crisps (like wotsits) have way too much salt and other bad stuff in them.

If he won't eat bread but likes crispy things have you tried toasting it, or maybe cuting thick chunks (without the crust) and baking them in the oven for a while so they are crispy (maybe with a little grated cheese on top for added flavour).

Do you always eat together ? I find my LO has always eaten best when there are others around him eating too. When he's having off days it often helps as he'll pick things of my plate of my hubbies even when he won't touch a thing that's in front of him. Even if we're not going to be eating at the same time as him I always try to sit down with something like slices of fruit or some cheese or something else to nibble on myself when he's eating as even this helps.

thank you that is a lot of help i do think his teeth are bothering him slightly but he is always so happy its hard to tell when. he does like toast but again he keeps picking it up and throwing it on the floor.

he does like to have thing that we eat which is often given to him, i sit and have lunch and breakfast with him but dinner isnt possible due to work, i will stick to the organix but i dont believe a few wosits or skips would harm him he has very little.

but thank you for your useful comment much appreciated

if you're putting the crisps on his tray with other stuff it sounds like he obv prefers them so is choosing them over the other options, i wouldn't worry about how many teeth he has and where they are, their gums are hard enough to mush & crunch up food, maybe try him with some cheese, i give my 2 babybel (sp) which they love as it isn't too strong and is creamy tasting, when i 1st started giving it to my youngest i'd cut it into qtrs for him or you could give him laughing cow/dairylea triangles which are a soft cheese and have you tried offering him fruit?? grapes are always a winner with kids and cooked carrot batons always go down well with my 2

i'd start only giving him 'crisps' as a treat so maybe offer him the healthier options and then if he eats a reasonable amount then give him like 6-8 'crisps' after as a treat

hope that helps
