Default Chinese pork and plum patties

1 spring onion
1 small clove garlic
1 tsp sunflower or rapeseed oil
1/4 tsp chinese 5-spice powder
180g lean pork mince
1 large ripe plum
1 1/2 slices wholemeal bread
1 small egg
1-2 tblsp oil, for frying

Finely chop the onion. Crush or finely grate the garlic. Saute the onion and garlic in the the 1tsp oil till soft. Mix in the 5-spice powder.
Peel the plum, remove the stone and finely chop
Make breadcrumbs from the bread.
Mix togther the pork, plum, bredcrumbs, fried onion and garlic and the egg in a large bowl.
Shape teaspoonfuls of the mixture into patties and fry over medium heat for 3-4 mins on each side till cooked through.

The recipe above is how I make them for my LO. For a more grown-up version I add more 5-spice, season with a dash of soy sauce and rice wine and serve with a spicy plum sauce as a dip.
