Default How pureed is your homemade puree?

Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum! I have been giving my LG a mix of shop bought purees, finger food and at attempted to give my own pureed cooked food - however the later has not gone down so well with for example, the lentil recipes and the chicken ones - though today it went ok (will see again with it tomorrow) but my homemade purees are not as smooth as the shop ones, the ones I have made (apart from fruit) - seem to have a grainy/sandy texture to it which I think may sometimes put her off?? How pureed are your home made purees which include things like lentils, chicken etc. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something to do with adding something extra or is that just the way it is! I have been through a series of blenders too and am going better with the Asda value one as of today!!..I tried Russell Hobbs etc and have now ordered the Avent one steamer & blender but will see how I get on! The Tommee Tippee one was so small! I know it is better to use a generic blender but would like your advice please! My LO is nearly eight months old and think the lumpy food weaning is going to take abit of while longer! She actually doesn't open her mouth if she doesn't like something! lol x

You will never get home cooked purees as somooth as the shop bought ones no matter what you try. In many cases it is not the texture but the flavour that causes babies issues home made foods. Shopbought purees are often blander due to the cooking methods and once used to the tastes babies often find it harder to switch to more flavourful homemade foods. Rather than trying to get a super smooth puree you might find you have more success with mixing homemade and shopbought to get your LO used to homecooked flavours gradually.

I would forget switching between blenders. It is just a lot of unnecessary cost for what is only a few short months. If your LO is taking finger foods then she should be able to deal with lumpier foods so it might be time to start thinking about ditching the blender in favour of the fork.
