Hi All,
I'm new to this website, i was wondering if anyone could help me. My little boy is nearly 9months, i started him on veg solids at 4 months then i introduced fruit. He liked all of them but he isnt liking the meats as much so now he is being really picky. He doesnt want breakfast, lunch i will eat when he wants to and dinner well thats bad too. I keep thinking is it my thought as i was ill for a few weeks for i changed the time of giving him his solids. do u think that has made him not want to eat. if anyone has any advice i would love to hear from you. thanks jen |

as long as he's putting on weight still & taking his milk feeds, i wouldn't worry too much, milk is still the main source of food til later as Dr P says. just keep offering at regular meals times, if he doesn't want it, then so be it. perhaps try letting him feed himself, he might be more tempted perhaps. its all a struggle really getting them to eat, but they will get there eventually, it just might take several years!

Hello Jen and other posters
![]() i am new to the forum like jen and have been weaning my little girl since she was 5 months. And just like Jen now all of a sudden she wont take food she loves - unless of course you count petits filous as food . she will always eat that no matter what. thanks for the posts as they have helped partially answer the question i was going to ask, ill stop worrying so much and let her come round in her own time as i know she is taking over 20 fl oz's of level 3 weaning formula each day. But can i ask anyone - if they know - if she wont take her fruit and veg do i offer a dessert or leave her till the next feed???? for the last few weeks she is refusing food which she has wolfed down before so to make sure she is getting something i have been giving her her dessert anyway - things like rice pudding, petits filous, egg custard or a fruit pudding. but im concerned in doing this will she start getting a taste for sweet and ignoring savoury? any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Kaz |

i personally would allow her to eat the pudding, so then you know she's eaten something. so long a you keep the pudding healty then i thinks its fine.
my pudding are quite often fruit or yoghurt based so are still healthly. if you were offering a giant bit of cake then maybe that wouldn't be a good idea, iykwim. what sort of things do you try for main course? |

Hi Cathy
Thanks for the reply, and no its not cake.... ![]() Well goods news on one side she is now back to eating properly and low and behold we have 3 new teeth so i think that answers my original problem....she went off her food a bit when she cut her first 2. just to answer your response - she has veggie meals at lunch. i have used loads of receipes from the annabel karmel bible... . and in the evening i add chicken or fish to the mix. lots of variety on the veggies - i try her with pretty much everything even if its something we dont eat. Not into red meat just yet - but going to try quorn this week she how she goes with that.i do give her yogurts, fromage frais, pureed fruit either plain or with baby rice. I am now trying her with finger foods as well but a bit unsure of what to offer. She has some organic rice cakes, sometimes a bit of cheese or apple. not sure what else to offer!!! any advice helpful. Many thanks Karen |
