Hi
This is my first baby and i have been reading lots of books about weaning, all telling me different things on what i can and cant give my daughter. She is 6 months next week. Can i give her the same meals as myself and partner. Such as spagetti bolognaise, chicken and rice etc.. Thanks Vanessa ![]() |

When my girls were hitting the weaning stage I followed up everywhere about what was okay to give them at such a young age. I even got a bizarre recipe for bread, hot water and sugar (a primitive kind of mushy rusk recipe). In the end though, I invested in a blender and just whizzed up the majority of the meals I made for my husband and myself. That said, I was warned to stay away from any of the jars of pasta sauces and cooking sauces for the high salt and sugar content and made my own instead. There's nothing that they really wouldn't eat now at 2 and 1 years of age so I am glad I didn't go through the jarred baby food option exclusively! You can mix all kinds of everything into just mashed potato and its always a good comfort food. Good luck!

just add a bit of milk and puree down for the first month, no reason why ur li'l one cant have what ur eating, to begin with u cud steam individual veg and mash down just so that there aren't too many flavours for her. hope it helps, all the best.

Hi,
I am also worried about what I can give my 6 month old twins - I have read that strawberries should be avoided as they may cause allergies, however I have noticed that they are included in some of the recipes listed. Does anyone know what the advice is on this? Thanks! Nat |
