Default How much food to give my 7 month old

Hello there,
I am bit worried I am feeding my 7 month old too much....I started weaning at just over 4 months and started on fruit and veg purees only started protein at 6 months...I make all my own food and have been using ice cube trays. He has the following:-
7oz milk at 7am
4 tablespoons baby porridge mixed with water and some puree fruit or half weetabix with some fruit at 8am
6 - 8 ice cube portions of a protein meal at lunchtime (chick casserole/lentil savoury/salmon surprise etc....try and include a couple of veggie cubes as well so 6 of the receipe cubes and 2 veggie cubes) followed by a lil yog pot with lil puree fruit - water to drink
7oz milk at 2.30pm
For tea I usally give him some soup with a slice of wholemeal bread made into a mini sandwich with dairylea to suck or finger toast and mash it with his soup followed by some fruit/yog pot...or sweet pot mash with spinach and peas etc......Portions are usually 2 cubes out of the Annabel Karmel cube tray which are bigger than the ice cubes - he has this about 5pm
7oz at 6.45/7pm then Bed
He has always been a big baby very solid and tall he weighs 22lbs 9oz....very very content baby so good. He sleeps 11/12 hours at night and has done so from about 3 and half months.... and sleeps 3 hours in total in day too.
1st time mum......any advice would be great...thanks J

Thumbs up confusing isnt it!

I know what you mean, when you wonder if you feed your baby too much! No-one ever advises how much of baby food to give them! But definately follow your babies lead, he will tell you when he is full!

If they eat too much they tend to vomit

Aslong as they get enough milk, thats the important thing! the amount of solid food varies from baby to baby which is why there is no correct amount.

Hi Jenny, i am having the same problems. I too have a big but health 7 and half month old. Shes 21ib 11oz. My babys routine is:

6.45 7oz bottle
7.30 3 dessertspoon baby porridge and 3 cubes fruit puree
12.00 8 cube veggie meal (not accepting meat yet) followed by 3 cube fruit puree and usually 3-5oz bottle afterwards
16.45 7 cube veggie meal with 2 teaspoons baby pasta followed by a yoghurt.
7pm 5-7oz bottle and bed.

Water is always offered with meal times but she always pushes it away. HV said not to worry coz she getting water in her food. Shes not mastered the finger foods yet, she just doesn't seem to get it!

She varies with her milk amounts. But was crying once the food had gone. My HV said don't up her food because shes getting a lot. Left me feeling confused because shes never refused anymore spoons with a dish she likes. I thought too u was supposed to follow babys lead. Trying more carbs and pulses in meals. Still early days yet tho, but adding baby pasta as actually stopped tears after teatime meal. I think u are doing a grand job and i am not reducing my babys food. SHes a happy contented baby too, so we must be doing something right.

Hi Claire,

Sounds we are doing great then as we have contented babies........mine is 8 months now and still growing bless him.....although I have cut out his 2.30 milk feed now so only has a feed first thing and before bed. HV is really pleased and now he is starting to get more active in almost trying to crawl he only put on 2oz in the last two weeks so he is levelling out now which is just right apparently.
Good luck and do what your doing if she is happy.
