Default How can I get my 7 months old to drink water?

Hello,

I've tried giving water to my 7 months old either using a small bottle or a cup but either way he refuses. Any ideas or tricks?

Thank you!

Not much help for now, but as he gets older and can manage a bottle or cup on his own always leave one within reach so he can help himself if he is thirsty. I found that the spill proof cups were best when my LO started drinking water as they spent more time played with than drunk out of at the start.

Don't worry L.J is the same, she is stubbourn though. Like what has already been suggested, I leave a cup in her reach.

I would just keep offering it, don't give any juices etc, he will drink it eventually

Thank you ladies. It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one who has that problem. I will keep a cup next to him and keep offering him water. I'm trying to ensure his teeth will be healthy so until he can manage drinking with a straw, Ayden won't get fruit juices. And considering his lack of enthusiasm for drinking cups this won't happen for a while! LOL! Thank you all again for your help.

Wink How to get baby to drink water

I am a first time mom of an 8month year old boy. My husband and I are finding the journey not only exciting, but also very rewarding, scary and and in awe of our little boy....your website and the forums are so helpul and very informative....we are just begining to offer Phillip water, it will take a few attempts and with two sister in laws one with 5 kids and the other with 2....just keep the bottle with water (no juice) just yet near reaching range and your bub will soon be intertested and just curiuos enough to reach for the drink...and before you know it they will be drinking from it in no time..

kind regards
mommy C.

when feeding your baby solid foods half way though try with water, the best way to get them to drink water is to give it to them from birth, aidan my 7mnth old drink 9 oz daily as we gave it to him from birth. they soon pick it up xx

Hi! I'm new here, but my LO Loves her water so I'm lucky, but her big brother didn't and like others have said - stick to 1 type of cup and just keep offering it at mealtimes... I always offered DS before food as often he was so hungry he'd accept anything at that stage, then he slowly got used to it and would be more willing to drink at other times of the day too... just keep plodding on!
