Question Is smoked cod ok??

I know my 7 month old can have Cod, but all I can find at my local supermarkets is smoked cod. Does anyone know if this is ok to give to him - so long as it's cooked?

I wouldn't as smoked fish is usually salted before it is smoked, and at that age you really should avoid salt.

If you can't find fresh cod what about any other fresh fish, or even frozen fish ?

As per DrP, I wouldnt give a tot smoked fish: in fact Rhys at age of 3 years only got smoked fish for the first time last week and that was part of mixed fish in fish pie that I made.

Tbh, I wont use cod anyway: my hubby works in a shop in a fishing village and there the locals refuse to eat cod as its a scavenger (sp?) and eat anything and so they find when they gut them, theres all sorts of horrible things inside (wont mention examples as its just too gross)

Try haddock instead
