Due dates...

I am a bit confused.

Went to get pregnancy confirmed, but was told to get an appointment for the midwife instead - Don't have this till the 19th August. I make that near the end of my 11th week, isn't that quite late??. I am basing that on date of conception (20th June) rather than last period date (13th)( bbc site).. I just tried another site and that gave yet another date. Also, I remember the receptionist saying it would be my 9th week, but don't get that at all.....

Am I being a bit thick here??

Can't help with the due date as I'm a bit thick with the maths but if it is your 11th week then it does seem a bit late for your first appointment. You should be getting your first scan around 12 weeks and if they only book it at 11 weeks then you'll probably be getting it quite late. That prob doesn't matter much but if you're like me it's hard to wait for the first scan, checking everythings ok etc! Is there no way you can get an earlier app? Or even ask for a docs appointment, you don't need to tell the receptionist what it's for. The doc can send a letter to the hosp you choose to book your first scan so then it shouldn't be late. If you can't get a doc's app for ages then say you want an emergency one, a lot of places if you phone first thing in the morning you'll get one later that day. Again you don't need to say what it's for, it's private! xo

i didnt see my widwife for 1st appointment til i was 10.5 weeks.

To check you dates count from 1st day of last period. So if the first day of your last period was 13th June u would now be 8 weeks and 1 day. and for your appointment be 9 weeks 4 days. HTH

Mydates were totally wrong both times. 1st one mw said I would be 12 weeks at first scan - I was only 9, this time I was told i was approx 16 weeks and at dating scan told only 12 so I've no idea how they get the dates. They said it's from date of last period which some people swear by - obviously it doesn't agree with me!xxx

Thanks everyone. Saw midwife today and she said 9 weeks,( though I think nearer 10). Apparently I may not get scanned till 14 weeks as Aberdeen is a bit backed up!!. I am considering paying for the Nuchal scan which will get done earlier anyway.

Hi, went back to midwife couple of weeks after dating scan where a second midwife told me I felt like I was 18 weeks pregnant (I was only 14 weeks) so next week I get the 20 week scan and will double check when y babe is actually due! xxx
