8 week scan, 3D prawn! :)

I had an early pregnancy scan on Friday and managed to bag some shots.
The hospital I go to here in Belgium is also a University research hospital. The doctor asked if I would mind if they did a 3D scan also, I was like "yay do one please!". Apparantly the machine was very new, the shots are so clear. The doctor was telling us that they can take the shots then disect them after as the picture takes a full 3D image, amazing!

The "baby" looks so bizarre at this point, it looked more like a prawn to me, it was amazing to see the heart beating. I think it always makes it more real when you see your baby for the first time!

Thats the most wonderful prawn i have ever seen! Truly amazing, really wish i had a 3d scan. they werent around when i was pregnant with george, then one opened when i fell with Imo and i really wanted one but in the end we decided it was one of those things that in years to come george would be upset that we didnt have one of him, still wish i had it though

I think in the uk you have to pay extra for a 3 D scan am I right? Here they just do a normal scan then flip a button and do a 3D scan too. I think in a few years they will be used much more commonly so more people will get a chance to have them without the ridiculous expense. We had a 3D scan of Ollie when he was 24 weeks.

over here you have the plain 2d one at hospital, the photos are only a couple of squid, but the 3d ones are a few hundred depending on what package you go for.

Yeah you have to pay, hubby paid for me to have one done as a birthday present when I was about 28 weeks. It was the best scan I had done.

That is so expensive, you don't pay for the pictures here. Although it is private healthcare we much prefer it as you only pay when you are treated (you pay NHS all the time from wages) and we get 75% of the money back. It's great.

It is so amazing isn't it? Because they really do look real, less like a blur!
