actually the uk now advise no alcohol at all, I live in Belgium now and I'm not sure but I think the advice is the same. Either way I would never drink while pregnantand I personally think it is selfish to do so, I mean come on, it's only for 9 months of your life! (sorry folks)
I have no time for people who smoke while pregnant. tut tut. |

I totally agree bev, at the end of the day 9 months is a tiny time in your whole life, and if people are selfish enough to get drunk (i dont mean a small glass here and there even though i agree none is best) but the people that totally drink too much then they aren't ready for the responsibility of being a parent, as its a completely selfless job

I'd never drink alcohol if I knew I was pregnant, I think it is very selfish. And the thing that winds me up the most ever is people that say "I drank/smoked whilst pregnant and my baby is fine"! Bloody lucky their baby is fine-those people took a chance with their childs life/wellbeing all for the sake of a few drinks/fags.
I didn't know I was pregnant on my wedding day (and possibly my hen night) and got smashed and I will always wonder if this is what caused my daughters' disability. Doctors and stuff keep telling me its impossible for this to be the reason but I will always wonder I know I sound high and mighty and get on my high horse about this stuff but it really makes my blood boil! I'm a rather sensitive soul! |

Also there is some research to say that the father's drinking can also affect the child negatively (although that would only be upon conception and they are off the hook for the 9 months following). |
