i definitely didn't want to take the risk of drinking alcohol when i was preggers!!i was told that the alcohol does pass through to the baby so i thought the effect of it on the babies tiny system would be waaaayy stronger than on an adults!!

Saw a piece on the news today saying lasted research says a small glass of wine once a day after the first trimester has no negative affects on baby.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7039249.stm

TBH I probably agree that small amounts aren't harmful but I just never fancied it and preferred not to.

The trouble is when people misinterpret advise like this - i.e "I only have a drink once a week so save it up and have seven glasses". Seriously know of people who did this.

I never drank while pregnant. I would have felt so guilty. I wasn't that bothered about drinking so it didn't bother me at all.

I had a very small glass of red wine with a meal on holiday when I was about 25 weeks and then another at 35 weeks to celebrate my birthday. I certainly don't agree with drinking on a regular basis though. I don't smoke and cut way back on caffeine so didn't worry too much xx

I drank the very odd glass of wine with ds1 but he's 11 now and I think the general consensus then was that very small amounts were fine. By the time I had ds2 the advice was no alcohol at all so I stuck to that for him and ds3 and this current pg.
Btw you don't have to abstain altogether for bfing. Very little gets into the milk, probably best not to get plastered but a little is fine!

Once Isabella was in a sleeping routine I used to have a rum & coke most nights! Still do in fact lol.

HV told me it wasn't a problem at all although avoid feeding within an hour of drinking alcohol just in case.

I did get plastered last night. Was first day Isabella didn't have a bf as she refused it

So went out and drank lots with my pals
