thank you for the advice...i'm going to start taking them as only at very early stage. Just looked at the label on the tablets and it says in captial letter stop taking at 12 weeks, harm to unborn baby. Thats the only reason i asked. Sorry to have worried anyone. But do remember looking at the pregnicare and it said it contained folic acid and that throughout pregnancy...such confusing advice from the proffesionals.

Can't believe a doctor said that to you, so insensitive.
I personally don't think not taking it could cause a mc.
After 12 wks i took Galfer FA, which is a combo of iron and folic acid.
Before i just took folic acid on its own.
I don't think FA after 12 wks can harm your baby.
I'd ring my doc about that

i took it all the way through both pregnacies (as part of pronatal vitimins) and at the time of george pregancy i read in Mother and Baby that new evidence suggests that folic acid taken throughout the entire pregancy could protect the childs heart for life. A the end of the day it will cause no harm but perhaps alot of good, both my babys were fine, if in doubt speak to your GP or Midwife

I took Pregnacare before and during, just checked out the box and it says it contains the recommended daily amount 400 micro-gms of Folic acid and you can take it before and throughout pregnancy and even when breast feeding.

These supplements have to be tested so thoroughly that there is no way they would be able to sell this for throughout pregnancy if there was even so much as the remotest possibility it could be harmful.

I hope this puts your mind at rest.

A x

Hi, If it actually says that on the label, I'd switch brands. Maybe there's something else in it that will cause a problem, you never know, best to be on the safe side...
