Question Head engaged?

I've heard this doesn't happen as early the second time round but I don't remember it happening at all last time! My bump is a lot lower, even hubby noticed it! Also feeling a lot more downward pressure and pain way down below IYKWIM! But not in tummy or back and not like period pains. It's sore when I walk around and even stays sore when I lie down. Maybe just pelvic pain from weight of baby? Seems like I've been having braxton hicks all day, tummy is constantly hard!

Don't see the doc til next Friday, midwife was supposed to be coming for first home visit today but didn't turn up and I had a whole list of questions for her! Am not worried baby is coming yet as Logie was so late but I definitely feel like something has changed. Does anyone have any advice or to put my mind at rest at least? Hubby's parents aren't coming til two days before my due date so we have noone to leave Logie with til then could be in labour by myself!! xo

Thats what my labour felt like! I had no pain in my back or tummy just pressure 'down there'. With George they thought it was a trapped nerve (actually in labour) and with Imo i felt it comming and going gently over a week before she was born. Ring the midwife and tell her you really would like to be checked out, you never know! beth xxxx

I'd ring the midwives and explain it to them just to put your mind at ease. No good for you stressing yourself out, good luck, hope alls ok.

Thanks everyone! Although oh dear Beth I hope its not the same as what happened to you! Were your LOs early? The midwife phoned me back there, she had an emergency so couldn't come but she's coming Mon afternoon instead and said to phone over weekend if I'm worried. She speaks pretty good English so was able to understand what I was telling her and doesn't think anything's happening yet. Told me to have a bath to see if pain goes and if it does then it's just the Braxton Hicks! xo

No they weren't early, it seems that just how i labour. It's strange though cuz when i think about it i remember having that type of feeling (on a much smaller scale) before my periods were due , i remember reading that you generally labour like your period pains ie in either your tummy or back, or in my case my cervix. Take things easy as you never know, conserve your engery!! Beth xxxx

Hope things get abit better for you. Thomas' head engaged but he decided to come out on his side so when he came down the birth canal he got stuck in my pelvis (his shoulders) and had to be ventouse in the end which was very painful indeed until I had the spinal block (they would have done c sec if no joy with ventouse). He came at 37weeks and weighed 7 pound 4.5 oz. Yikes!
Take things easy and rest as much as you can hun!

I can completely relate to how you're feeling! I've put it down to the fact that its a second baby and all the muscles have been stretched/weakened before. Although saying that, I think i'm probably lifting more than I did before (lugging around a toddler that demands only mummy carry her!) as it feels like Ive pulled all my abs!

Quite bizarre reading this post as my sister rold me today that the head doesn't engage as early as it does first time around - I never realised that!

Thanks for all the new messages! Still been feeling the same today, just uncomfortable all the time and I don't remember feeling like this with Logie. It must just be to do with stomach muscles being looser 2nd time round and feeling the baby more! I was just worried because my mum was overdue with me then had my sister at 35 weeks and there's the same age difference between me & my sis and Logie and the new baby! At least it's made me get my hospital bag packed now! Got the tiny nappies today too! I only have one bag this time though, had 3 last time! Hope all the other mums to be are well and something happens soon for all those further on! xo
