paracetamol is the only pain killer deemed "safe" in pregnancy... esp early pregnancy.... i cant take paracetamol (makes me sick) so on occasions ive taken asprin and brufen... its not advised though...

there are situations were people obviously have to take painkillers and i think as long as its a one off type thing rather than regular the risks are low, thats why i was happy to take asprin and brufen..

speak to gp or midwife if your worried...

sorry not much help there!!xxxxxxxx

Hey Wicky

I've been taking 2 paracetamol (500mg) up to four times a day this week, and 2 brufen (200mg) 3 times a day. I am well poorly!!!!

It is not recommended generally to take brufen, but I was advised by a doc at the out of hours GP place on Boxing Day.... Katie and I both got appointments as we were so bad.

I was also given a simple linctus which has done nothing but tastes nice...

The main problem with brufen is they never prescribe it to babies under three months, so don't recommend it for expectant mothers of bfing mothers. However, as with everything, the rules bend depending on the case. I mean, I had a c-section last time and I was up to me eyeballs in prescribed brufen while breastfeeding. So feck knows.

I think the problem with aspirin is more to do with the effect it has on your blood (thinning). That's why we're not meant to take it, and why we can't take flu products with it in it.

HTH
xxx

Sounds like most of us mums to be are poorly at the mo. Thankfully i've come to the end of my sickness (been over 2 weeks!!) - now just have a pleasant sounding hacking cough which brings up lots of pleasantness (nice)

Seems everybody has already given sound advice. I also drank a lot of cups of hot water with honey and lemon and lots of strepsils (which I believe are ok)

Hopefully you'll feel brighter soon, as awful as you feel remember it wont last forever!

Take care

Topaze

I have been doing the same as Jewel as drinking loads of hot water with honey and lemon. Haven't taken any paracetamol yet although think I will have to give in and take some in a bit!!!

Hope we all feel better soon (sniff, cough!!!).

Lx

My answer is the same. Paracetomal is the only "safe" one especially in the first trimester. In the last trimester, doctors are a little more lenient which is why I am sure they gave you the ibuprofen Ladybug. feel better all!
