I took much less this time around but i did take my straighteners!! No hairdryer, but the ward had one you could use.

I took some Pj's for the hospital and wore my maternity jeans home. I had disposable knickers (so attractive!) maternity pads, breast pads. I took travel size shampoo/shower gel (i treated myself to really nice stuff) also took nice moisturiser.
For baby: vests, a couple of baby grows a couple of cardi's a pack of nappies.

Camera

All fitted in an overnight bag

On a side note my oh cousin brought the car seat to the hospital when we were getting home only thing was she didnt bring the car seat, she brought the pushchair unit for the pram so had to go all the way back home to get the car seat!

have emailed you some stuff!

I took straightners! ward had hairdyer. Took some tinted moisturiser, eyeliner, lip liner and a sheer lipstick as makeup and used day after as wasnt allowed out of bed the afternoon/ evening of having C and anyway cudnt be arsed tryin to put makeup on in bed as I'm not really makeupy kinda girl anyway!

ward bag had:
brought mini toliteries where poss: tesco and superdrug have lots; plenty of little handipacks of tissues; like deo, shampoo, sponge, conditioner, hair gel, face wipes, moisturiser, hairspray
alco gel: the small handbag size
dettol/milton surface spray: mini one in my bounty pack
some kitchen roll to wipe surfaces with after spraying dettol....
towel for mr and ba, facecloth
some pjs for after and nightie esp in case pads leaked, nightie for changing into when being induced, dressing gown
socks, proper pants to wear before and going home in as disposable ones a bit itchy and scratchy and maternity/breasfeeding bras including a sleep one
cotton wool
some nappies
abt 6 bodysuits as found first size nappies leak!
abt 3 babygros
blanket for baby
baby cotton hat, socks and scratch mitts
cereal bars and water
nappy sacks
plastic bag to put dirty laundry into
socks for me
breast pads and that Lanoish cream for boobs
muslin cloths
pen and paper and fone: shud have brought charger!
digital watch or sometime to time contractions on and check time on as ward dont have clocks abt so u have no idea how long it takes!
flipflops for shower (binned after)
slippers (binned after: just used old cheap ones from Shoezone)
lipbalm and handcream
tens machine which didnt use

What u need depends on how long u will be in: with Rhys I was in 5 days so used a lot of stuff esp bodysuits as everytime he fed he did a dirty nappy and everytime u undid his nappy he peed usu over bodysuit...
Also shud have brought a clean top for the day after delivery to wear as I wanted to get out of nighties and jammies and feel more normal in ordinary clothes: I ended up just wearing the top I came in in.

For going home I wore maternity clothes although they were early term jeans with elasticated top bit, a top and a belly band for extra support and also to help hold up trews if needed.

Day after birth I repacked bags so all nappies etc in big bag and dirty clothes etc in labour bag so if I had to stay in I knew wot I had available and what I cud send home as not needed pr to be replaced.

My nightie I gave birth in was covered in blood so just binned in on delivery ward afrer putting clean one one and been cleaned up: i just bought cheap ones in Asda/ Bon Marche in big sizes so wasnt worried abt binning expensive ones!

delivery bag had a few nappies, abt 2 bodysuits, 1 babygro, water spray for face, bottle of water to drink and straws to drink from as not always poss to drink from bottle directly depending wot position in, disposable nicks and pads; clean nightie and bra. added towel and washbag as they give you a freshen up after birth. those teeth cleany things that u put ur finger into to and lipbalm

Sounds like I had half the house in there but I find the little lists they give u abt what to bring dont have half the stuff on it. Anyway, even by the time u get toiletries for u together, that still a good full washbag full of stuff taht takes up heaps of space: oh, I had a wet washbag for sponge, shower gel etc were it didnt matter if everything in it got wet and a dry one for deo, moisturiser etc. Did just bring a toothbrush that was cheap and cud throw out after rather than the elctric one and had a little cover for the brush head so it didnt get yukky in drawer/ bathroom etc!

Hx

WOW at your list Hiann!!!!! I keep forgetting you have to take EVERYTHING yourself when having a baby in UK. All i took was my things and few vests and coming home outfit for Oliver. You get a pack of pampers and everything else you might need for baby in the hospital here!!!! Having said that you don't get a HV coming to see you which would have been lovely and is the reason I want my next in UK!!!!! x
