Default Induction question....

Am due to go in at weekend to be induced: was induced with Rhys and needed two pessaries and the drip the next day: time from 1st pessary to birth abt 18 hrs. Dont know if cervix was dilated at all last time. Had artifical rupture of membranes last time too.

Question is who has been induced two times or more and how long was the labour? What did you need ie two sets of pessaries and drip or one pessary and drip?

Just trying to work out routines etc for Rhys: idea is hubby will come home and put him to bed as I doubt Rhys will settle if neither of us are in the house as he wasnt too impressed earlier when I said abt going to the hospital to have baby: he wanted to come too.....

I've never been induced so cant say from a personal experiecence.
Havent you sai you are already slighty dialted? if so you may not need any gel as its job is to soft and dilate the cervix. But every trust has different rules. They may start you on IV oxytocin before or after your waters break, but again this depends on your trust (or doctor)

I have been induced 3 times , babies number 3 ,4 &5.
1st time , was 3 cm dialated and they said according to the monitor having mild contractions (couldn't feel them though) , they broke my waters and kept me on the monitor for 1/2 an hour just to be safe, pains started 25 mins later and she was born 2 hours 25 mins later .
2nd time I had pre-eclampsia/help syndrome so they needed to induce me straight away (was 40 weeks +4 days). Again when they checked me I was 4cm dialated so they broke my waters and pains started 10/15 mins later, I had all sorts of drips and stuff to try and keep my blood pressure from going through the roof but nothing to help me along with labour. Had a normal labour and he was born about 3 1/2 hours later.
3rd time, I was taken in at 38 weeks to be induced for Teilo to reduce the risk of getting pre eclampsia agin. They gave me a pessary and internal at tea time on the Friday night but nothing happened, Saturday morning the doctor came around and gave me another pessary and internal which felt a little uncomfrtable and said I may feel what they call prostin pains form the pesaary, I was on the monitor for 1/2 an hour afterwards and could then get up, I had a few twinges down below just uncomfortable again rather than painful and went for lunch and a walk with hubby, they didn't go away so went back to ward midwife checked and said I was 3cm, they took me to labour ward I waited for community midwife to come and aftre about an hour she checked me and I was 7/8cm and feeling the urge to push so she broke my water and Teilo was born about 15mins later. The whole thing from my 1sr pain to him being born took about 3 1/2- 4 hours.
Sorry for such long post just wanted to give as much info as I could.
Good luck, can't wait to hear all about it.

I was induced with Sophie, was given a sweep about 5 in the evening on the saturday and then 20 mins later they gave me a pessary. Started getting a few pains but nothing major so got some sleep and sent hubby home. Around 11ish the MW gave me some painkillers as I was getting pains on and off - was pacing the ward.

About 2.30 on the sunday morning I had a bath and the MW gave me some more painkillers, she checked me and I was 2cm dilated I asked for gas and air, about half an hour late my waters went and the MW examined me again and I was 8cm so they took me up to the delivery suite. I called OH and he got to the hospital about 5am I started pushing about 6am and Sophie was born at 6.45am.

I never had a drip just one pessary (prostin). From my waters breaking to giving birth was about 3hrs I think.

Good luck hun hope something happens before the weekend xxxx

I was induced twice. Labours do tend to be faster/more intense.
With LO No. 2, I was induced around 10pm (1/2 Pessary/tablet) Had LO between 10 and 11 next morning. Had epidural, approx 4 pushes. Very easy!!
With LO No. 3, I was induced around 10:30pm, was actually starting to contract myself but still went ahead with induction. Had petidine, gas and air, TENS, at 10 am following morning, I was 5 cm dilated, they decided to break my water and within 32 mins Little miss A was born!! No epidural!! Yay!!
So my experience 12ish hours after!! Good luck!!
What time they planning to induce you? In our hosp, they do them late evening.
HTH, D x

Ta all for your stories and comments!

I'm told I need to be there abt 4pm: think it was 6pm last time but maybe thats as they want to have their induced pts in at different times to book them in and also for diff starting times so they dont all need monitoring at same time! Not saying what day I'm going in Hubby can post news here (or my mum can) or on facebook!
