28 weeks-breach baby
FINALLY got to see my HV. Been looking forward to this since the last time I saw her at 16 weeks which seems like forever ago.
Anyhow, turns out baby is breach! She has said that she will more than likely turn. However, a friend of mine said that she was told that at 28 weeks and baby still didnt turn.
Anyone have any experience of this???

One of the ladies on my antenatal class had a breech baby. She found out pretty early on too and was told the baby would probably turn. When the baby didn't she was offered and ECV (external cephalic version) at 37 weeks where the Obstetrician manually turns the baby by manipulating your abdomen. There are no guarantees the baby will stay head down after it though so she decided against it and when she went into labour was given an emergency caesarean, which went well, and her experience was good.

Don't worry, 28 week is really early, baby will turn and then turn again and probably again! My son was breech at 36 weeks and he turned. If it comes down to the 36 week point, I'd try acupuncture it is supposed to help. But for now, don't stress at all! So glad all is going well. xx V.

Hi, my Lo was breech all the way, kinda new as I'm petite and there was basically no room for her to move about and I could feel every part of her. When I saw my consultant I was given the option of them trying to move her but because I'm small and didn't have much room we all agreed that a C section was best I didn't want to risk the unnecessary trauma it might have put on my baby or myself, I was getting myself worked up about the whole situation and decided that the c section was the best option for me, that way I would still have a healthy baby. Some things are just meant to be. I tried moving her by doing all the exercises I could but I just think she physically could not move, or was too comfy! It's whatever best for you and your baby, it's your body and baby so make sure you make your own decision, do what you feel is best. Either way you will still have a beautiful baby at the end of it. I was booked in for a section thinking that I wouldn't get the experience of labour, but 4 days before that day I went into labour, had a show, waters broke, had contractions which were coming every 3 minutes (had to wait for a surgeon as was in the night) so I did experience it all except the actual normal delivery! Good luck with whatever you do xx

I agree, it's too early to worry about breech at 28 weeks as your baby will almost certainly turn the right way by D-day. A couple of weeks before he arrived, Oliver was breech and I spent a lot of time 'crawling' on all fours on the floor, so that his weight would gently put him the right way round... and within a few days it had worked! Hope all is OK when the time comes. xx

LOL! I bet this was a sight?!
Thanks ladies. Not too concerned at this time and still pretty relaxed just interested to hear your experiences of this. Thanks again. T x

Hello! My baby was also breech at 28 weeks and my midwife said she would check it again next week at 34 weeks then if still breech, I can try to have him/her turned at 35/36 weeks. I had my first turned successfully at 36 weeks, but am hoping it might have turned - I find it really hard to differentiate between it's bottom and it's head!! If it is still breech next week I am going to try acupuncture as 3 out of the 4 people I have spoken to said it worked - will try anything as having it turned at the hospital was VERY painful (but worth it) and I will do anything rather than have a c-section - cannot imagine looking after 3 under the age of 4 after a section! Anyway, if I try the acupuncture, I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed yours will turn in the next 6 weeks or so. My m/wife told me to get on all fours with my bum in the air - 10 mins in the morning and 10 in the evenig (but she said just watch out who is standing behind you!!). Laura x

It looks great... if you like the 'heavily pregnant hippo' look!!! Seriously though, the swinging action of your bump belly when moving around on all fours really is great for getting them to shift into the right position. My midwife also said that the best way of getting it right was to scrub the floors - Clean floors AND a right way up baby... Result!
