Really surprised at that, once I had got into the medical system over here after not finding out I was pregnant until at least 8 weeks, I first saw my midwife at 15 weeks and then every four weeks until the final month when it was every 2 weeks. Always got to hear the heartbeat, tis the best thing about going.

That happens hear aswell with the 1st baby, but sadly with the 2nd they don't want to see you as much unless you are high risk or if your having problems

I was really shocked with how little the Midwife needed to see me when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. But I thought that was cos' our midwife went off long-sick and they found it hard to cover for her... Seems it is the norm around the country.

I got around this by an impromtu visit to the hospital for a renal problem for 4 days and what with needing 2 injections for my Rheus Neg status I found myself getting to hear baby's heartbeat more often than I thought.

Don't feel you can not phone to see them before if you have any doubts xxx

I love hearing the heartbeat, the MW I had pretended to listen to Jessie's baby's heartbeat aswell. I saw my midwife at about 8/9 weeks then next appt when I was 18 weeks and my next appt is in 2 weeks when I'll be 25 weeks, guess everywhere is different, at least you've got another scan inbetween xxx

Awwww! Baby heartbeats are so special!

I saw my midwife at 7 weeks, 17 weeks and then she didn't want to see me 'til 30 weeks until I pointed out to her that I was 'high risk'. She should have known this from my notes but heyho. She said she'd see me at 27 weeks as a compromise. I had to get my MATB1 from the consultant.

Mine has a bee in her bonnet about me because she is a midwife for one hospital and I'm having my baby in one slightly further away. There's a very them and us attitude . The hospital midwives, on the other hand, are fab and don't care which area I live in, they just care about me and my baby .

Think there is a lot of that. I had my booking appointment on sunday(!) and the mw was from the local midwife led unit and her 1st question was did i have my son at the unit? I said no as i had complications late in pregnancy which meant i had to go the hospital, and as such i will be classed as high risk this time again so will not have much option really. She pretty much lost interest at that time.

Am having my scan on friday and i mentioned to her its very early (dont have a clue re the date of my last period but pretty sure baby concieved around christmas) and she asked me (this was just as she was leaving) why how many weeks do you think you are?
Some of the questions on the new booking in form are 1) very strange and 2) nothing to do with the birth or your health therefore none of their business!!!
