RM's your lady. Why wouldn't he be there though, it's his house? Maybe they think you'll be a screamer and upset Finley?

I've not had a home birth, but i'd expect if it was late at night, or through the night then he'd be in bed anyway. But if it was day time not sure...do they go to grandparents as i expect him to be quite active? And wanting to know what was going (well my LO def would) but if your upstairs and he's downstairs, cant really see a problem. Like SephiesMum said it is his house!

Imogen was downstairs with my OH whilst I gave birth in my room upstairs. She cried when I screamed as I was actually having Dylan but other than that she hadn't a clue what was happening cause we were upstairs.

I think alot of people do get their parents to take their kids though, but its up to you really, don't see any harm in the kids being there though.

I know you'd think you wanted to give birth on the moon to hear some folk when you say you're having a home birth. All my lot kept saying how brave I was to have him at home!!! Better than a hospital any day (providing there are no complications with the pregnancy)!

My mum had Jessimae, mainly so i could concentrate on the job in hand and have my OHs full attention iykwim....

It was also nice to relax and have 1;1 time with Livvy after iykwim.... Livvy was born at lunchtime and my mum brought jessimae home at 6pm so we had had a nice afternoon snuggling!!!

think its down to what you want to do

ah yes, forgot to say that I didnt have a choice in Imogen being at home or not, there was no one else to look after her. Would have been so much easier and comforting to have had OH there with me for support. Totally underestimated how important it is to have someone there just to hold your hand.

Oliver was at home when i gave birth to Sophie!

I had Sophie at night so Oliver was in bed and i was downstairs in the living room!

My sister was my birth partner...hubby and my sisters boyfriend where in the kitchen in charge of Oliver and making cups of tea!

Oliver did wake up as i gave birth so hubby missed Sophie being born....probably because i was screaming!! But that didnt matter cos i just wanted to be at home and part of the reason for having a home birth was so i didnt have to leave Oliver!!!

Had it been during the day he would probably have gone over to the inlaws who live across the farm yard from us! Or he would have been with hubby and my sister would have been with me!!!

You have to do what you are comfortable with!

Home births are great!

I think as long as someone is there to see to his needs then I dont see why he wouldnt be at home to meet his little bro or sis. I would love a home birth but there is no chance of that anymore

Good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
