I'm just about 9 weeks pregnant, and have had sickness for the last 3 weeks. Can anyone help me? I have a 21 month old and a husband who still want feeding (how rude of them)!! I'm finding it really tricky to go shopping and find something that I might want to eat in a few hours when I feel sick all day! and I think Ben is getting sick of pasta. We used to try and eat together, but things like cottage pie and fish pie which we used to eat every week makes me just want to puke. How do/did you cope with feeding your family when you felt so bad? x |

I was going to suggest online shopping too!
It might help to cook in large quantities when you are feeling ok and freeze meals. It's no more hassle cooking double and triple quantities of lasagne, cottage pie, fish pie etc and then when you're suffering you can just reheat them. Could your hubby cook a few meals at the weekend to help you out? Slow cookers are great so you don't have to do much to the food, just throw veggies/meat in and leave it all day. Hope you feel better soon xx |

Great minds - I was going to suggest internet shopping too....!
I found when I was feeling a bit sick all I wanted was plain food and all I wanted was jacket potatos, they are quite versatile though as you could give OH and LO a different filling to what you were having like chilli or bolog and have yours fairly plain. Have to admit though my OH did get sick of having jacket spuds..! |

Same here, I did shopping online. I lived on toast and pancakes for weeks at the start as even potatoes made me sick. I made hubby and Matthew potatoes quite often for dinner as at least there was no smell, but if I did anything else I got hubby to take it out of oven and serve it as I couldn't cope with the smell of cooked food.
Hope the sickness eases soon. Debs xx |

I was also having all day sickess, and could only stomach a drink here in South Africa called AMASI, which is like thick sour milk, with loads of brown sugar!!! Dh helped out a lot, and he loves cooking so that helped. Maybe see if that can help if he can help a bit more just till the morning sickness if over. Mine stopped totally at 16 weeks.

Just seen this thread!
I shop online as I still feel sick if I actually go food shopping . I'm lucky as Mr H has taken over alot of the cooking. We tend to make double batches and freeze half or if we make bolognese we'll put half in the fridge and make a lasagne or chilli with it the next day.Don't worry about eating together. I often have a jacket potato instead of what Mr H and Ethan are having if I can't face it. I really hope it passes for you soon! ((((((Hugs)))))) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Yes I agree internet shopping and do it when your feeling okay! Don't beat yourself up about providing a fresh meal on the table whilst you feel so bad. I've got evening sickness at the mo and the last thing I feel like doing is cooking a meal so I've just stuck to the slow cooker, making food early in the day and nice ready meals - tesco are doing a good 'finest collection' £9 offer for a main, side dish, desert and a bottle (for OH) we had the aberdeen angus cottage pie tonight with cauliflower cheese and a scrummy choc tart, Livy loved it and it was minimal effort! I hope your feeling better soon xxxxxxxxxx
