I'd say:
big plastic sheet for under your bed sheet and a couple of towels to put over the top A couple of nice towels to wrap baby in straight away Have a warm bath waiting for after you've given birth so you can hop in quickly and get cleaned up and back to baby! Sounds daft but have the baby's clothes and nappies very handy-I had all my stuff in the "emergency bag" just in case we had to go to hospital! Lots of water handy for drinking or chucking over a face cloth to cool you down Clean pyjamas (nice ones for the pictures!), underwear and maternity pads for after you've given birth An old nightie for giving birth in if you want to stay covered up although I know some women feel better in the buff! Have moses basket made up Finally someone to hold your hand!!! I made the mistake of thinking I could do it alone with no support but ended up clinging to my midwife's hand which was so comforting! I can't think of anything else but Rachelmae is a pretty good source of info on home births!!! Good luck!!!! |
