Default Vomiting bug

Not sure if its going round the rest of the UK, but there is a very nasty vomiting and diarrhoea bug going round Northern Ireland. I was in the bathroom every hour from 11pm Tuesday to 10am Wed morning, and it ended up triggering contractions.

Midwife came to see me and sent me straight to hospital, protein was ++ and ketones ++++ so they had me on a drip for the last 2 days to get me rehydrated. Thankfully the contractions stopped by Wednesday night and they let me go home today. Was begining to panic as I have nothing ready for this baby at all Don't even have the space cleared in our room for the moses basket yet.

Seems to be very infectious though as hubby got it on the Thursday lunchtime, my mum (who came up to look after Matthew) got it on Thursday night, my brother got it from her by today lunchtime and has now passed it on to his girlfriend!

Hope the rest of you mums-to-be don't catch it, it was the worst diarrhoea I have ever had in my life and I still don't feel back to normal. So if you do hear of anyone with a bug, stay well away just in case!

Debs xx

that's awful hun hope your feelling better.

That bug is called the norovirus and has been doing the rounds in the UK since last year I remember they had to close schools. I had that bug last year, so did hubby, my dad, mum, sister, brother and 2 best friends I actually thought I was dying at one point (dramatic I know) but I physically didn't think I could be sick anymore xxx

bless you honey - it is a truly awful one. It has been around for years and seems to hit this time of year. Also call it 'winter vomiting virus'. I had it twice while carrying Tilly and was awful. The first time I was still having morning sickness so this made it all so much worse. The second time was after the morning sickness had passed, thank God, and it reminded me how bad it felt. I was hospitalsied the second time too as could not hold any liquid down so they admitted me and put me on a drip until it passed and I could drink again, then I was sent home. Was on my own too as OH had it and was at home being ill himself so could not come in to see me. Did not contract either time though, so glad to hear you are ok and that they stopped - must have been pretty scary.big, but gentle, hugs xx

PS - I am sure without a doubt that you are all very clean people, but one thing to help prevent it is to wash your hands more often than you otherwise would, and to carry anti- bacterial hand gel for occasions when, say, a public loo runs out of soap...

xx
