Default Birthday cake

Goodness, it's been so long since I was on here, I forgot my password! LOL!

I am not much of a baker, but it is my little one's first birthday party on Saturday and I want to make the cake myself. I've got a Wilton cake pan in the shape of Winnie the Pooh eating a pot of honey. I'm looking for suggestions for easy peasy cake recipes that would be alright for one year old babies to have a bit of!

Thanks in advance!

I just tend to do a basic sponge cake.
Make sure you butter or non stick spray the pan well though to make sure it doesn't stick!

I too do a basic sponge filled and decorated with some fresh fruit (or frozen defrosted berries) and a bit of cream.

I can recommend this website, I have used many of the recipes & they have always worked out well: Carrot Cake Recipe With Picture - Joyofbaking.com *Tested Recipe* The carrot cake is especially yummy, just leave out the nuts. For those baking with older kids the oatmeal cookie & gingerbread men recipes are great!

Ended up making one chocolate sponge, and one victoria sponge, and decorated them like Winnie the Pooh with hubby's help (ran out of time!) Both turned out great. When I get around to uploading the pics will try and post them.

Thanks all for suggestions!

Default First birthday cake

We made this birthday cake for our daughter on her first birthday:
Recipe 1st Birthday Cakes - Yummy and Healthy Beetroot Cake on Cookmarkit.com

It was a total hit! All the babies who joined us on the day loved it. Nice and fruity and not very sugary.

I totally recommend it!

Concerned that my grand daughter has only been weaned for 5 months. Never had flour, 'nor butter in large quantities & no sugar at all... will this cake be age appropriate for her stomach? Like the idea of beetroot for colouring.
