Default Gingerbread

Logansmum has put me in the notion of baking so thought I add this gingerbread recipe my mum and I use. It is quite rich and moreish but isnt very "high" if you know what I mean: quite a dense cake.

Apparently it was the MOST requested recipe from the Flour Advisory Board during the 70s. She makes gingerbread every Xmas and in between Xmases if we can talk her into it....

4oz butter (must be butter)
6oz treacle
2oz golden syrup

1/4 pint of milk
2 beated eggs

8oz plain flour
2oz sugar
2 level tsp mixed spice
3 level tsp ground ginger
1 level tsp bicarbonate of soda

Melt the treacle, butter and syrup together in a pan. Allow to cool. Add milk and eggs to the pan. Stir this mix into teh flour and rest of dry ingredients. POur mixture into lined and greased tin abt 12inches by 12 inches. Bake at 150oc for 75mins.

Aww sounds lovely! Do you think it counts as a cake or biscuit? Or it is really bread isn't it? I am still eating bread! xo
