Default Cooking Disasters...

Well ladies, we are all quick to mention our successes in the kitchen but what about the disasters...

I'll start...

I have a few, back when I worked full time in our guesthouse doing evening meals and was heavily pregnant with Joseph I did make an extremely sloppy shepherd's pie, so sloppy that the mash had almost disintegrated, I also made a toad in the hole that just didn't rise and was really spongy. Remarkably both were eaten up with no leftovers - but that's men for you I guess!

More recently I came across a what sounded like a lovely recipe for sole, rolled up with smoked salmon, lime, and cream cheese in the middle, well I'd used some sole that had been in the freezer for a while but it hadn't been filleted so I couldn't roll it, I tried to fillet it myself but because they are so fiddly I made a right pigs ear out of it, I ended up just cooking the sole on its own all carved up to buggery and then rolling the cream cheese and smoked salmon up and serving them cold on the side.

The sole was disgusting, probably because it had been in my freezer too long and tasted of rubber and the cold salmon roll thingys were just minging. To add insult to injury I was making it a low GI meal so I just had some carrots and minging wilted spinach on my plate. I went to bed extremely hungry that night!

My main cock up is parsnips i always burn em. Reason being i overestimate cooking time and when i turn oven up for YP's then burn. I have just about mastered it now.

the only other things i can think of (im sure theres lots i have forgotton) are trying to maKE afghani dishes. i try following recipes and its really hard when dont knowwat the stupid thing is supposed to look/taste like. you only know when your hubby laughs his ass off. But hey i try

Many!

I once made a fruit sponge pud and forgot the eggs in the sponge. It was an interesting biscuity cobbler instead!

When I was at uni I once made a chilli con carne so hot my best friend consumed almost an entire loaf of bread just so she could get through it to cool her mouth down! What can I say.......I like it hot!

Once made a WW toad in the hole which was horrid, the yorkshire pudding didn't cook properly so I'm sticking to the calorie laden version for that one.
